When I decided to embark on my first-ever solo trip to Europe, I knew who to trust, and Flamingo Transworld instantly came to my mind. I came across their thoughtfully curated Switzerland tour packages, and their 8-day group tour titled “Swiss Splendor: Zurich to Zermatt” fascinated me the most.
The complete trip cost me ₹2,50,000 (including flights from Mumbai) and it claimed to cover the iconic areas of the country. Being one of the most affordable Switzerland tour packages covering Zurich to Zermatt, the plan was inclusive of all the essential things like round-trip airfare, 4-star accommodation, vegetarian Indian meals, and an English-speaking guide.
Follow along to know what all my fascinating things my package included and what my overall experience was.
Arrival in Zurich: First Glimpse of Swiss Precision
Landed at the Zurich airport on a sunny summer morning, and I was instantly mesmerized by the beauty of the city. Flamingo Transworld’s representative gathered all 25 of us and took us to the Novotel Zurich City West, a comfortable hotel with luxury amenities and scenic views. On the very first day, we visited the world’s expensive shopping street, the Bahnhofstrasse.
Our guide, Rajesh, a Mumbai local, had a scholarly knowledge of the city. He ensures that not a single minute is wasted, allowing us to explore as much as possible. The whole day was filled with fascinating experiences, setting a tone of precision for which Switzerland is famous.
Lucerne: Where Medieval Charm Meets Alpine Majesty
Day two, we visited Lucerne, a compact city in the country known for its medieval architecture. The snow-covered mountains were absolutely stunning. We then took a walking tour of the iconic Chapel Bridge. Rajesh told us about the 17th-century paintings that whispered medieval tales related to the French Revolution.
What fascinated me the most were our complimentary Swiss Rail Passes and the lunch at the mountaintop restaurant. The sumptuous yet light meals were something I would cherish forever. Furthermore, the cable car ride to Mount Pilatus was something I never imagined I could witness in my life. The panoramic views of Lake Lucerne and the Rigi Mountains stole my heart.
Interlaken and Jungfraujoch: The Thrill of Europe’s Rooftop
Day three, we visited the adventure capital of the city, Interlaken, and Jungfraujoch. Our hotel in Interlaken offered us warm and cozy rooms with balconies and scenic views. We first went to a cliff walk, but the most remarkable place was the Jungfraujoch, also known as the “Top of Europe”.
We were also given warm jackets and high-altitude tips, ensuring everyone was safe and comfortable. Blending adrenaline with accessibility, Flamingo Transworld was worth every penny. The breathtaking cogwheel train blasted us through the city tunnels, and I realized why this tour package is the most lauded one out of all the others mentioned on their site.
Zermatt: The Enigmatic Allure of the Matterhorn
The trip reached its peak when we took a panoramic train from Interlaken through the meadows. Our stay at the hotel Daniela offered us a Matterhorn-facing suite, which is the most photogenic peak in the world.
Exploring the lanes of this car-free village was surreal and extremely stress-relieving. Since the city was completely pollution-free, our guide made sure we could witness the Milky Way at night. The stargazing and the noise-free city left me completely speechless.
Farewell Reflections: A Tour Worth Every Franc
As our trip was coming to an end, our hearts were overwhelmed, and as we were heading for the departure, the alpine air was hitting us with nostalgia. My Switzerland tour review will not be completed without praising the Flamingo Transworld’s splendid itinerary.
The appetizing culinary experience, zero hidden cost, and the ice-capped mountains were extremely heavenly. If you are currently having Alpine dreams, my verdict is to trust the Flamingo services with closed eyes. With 10/10 experience, this Switzerland tour package should definitely be explored once.
