The United States government has updated its travel warning, advising people to think twice before visiting India’s northeastern states.
This change came on July 23, and it says that there’s some violence in these areas.As a result, the US is now advising people to “reconsider travel” to states like Tripura, Mizoram, Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim.
This means travelers should be careful and maybe think about going somewhere else. Manipur is even more serious; it’s now under a “do not travel” warning because there has been a lot of violence there.
The US says there’s been fighting and some people have had to leave their homes because of it.The advisory also says that US government workers need special permission before going to Sikkim or Arunachal Pradesh.
They also need approval if they want to go to places outside the main cities in these states.The US warning says that Jammu and Kashmir, along with some central and eastern parts of India, also have problems.
Their worry about terrorist attacks and violence from groups like Maoists in these areas.
